Krems - Memory Practise

During the Krems Residency in the summer of 2017, the project continued to research similar war-crime scenes within the region of Krems. This also involved a critical reflection of the culture of memorials and monuments: How can and should collective memory be represented? To what extent do conventional techniques of remembrance, such as monuments and memorials, actually support forgetfulness by disconnecting history from the present? In "Memory Practices"the project directs our view at the banality of evil, which through a process of normalisation becomes a sedimentary part of the history of a place.
