Linz - City of culture

The expansion of the city, which continued sporadically after 1938, accommodated Hitler’s plans to transform Linz into a cultural, industrial, and administrative center. The plans called for thousands of forced laborers and the construction of three concentration camps.

The development of war stalled most ambitious plans. The plans that did come into being included the construction of the industrial plants and residential buildings, including the monumental plans for the Danube waterfront. Hitler’s proposal to make the main boulevard a center of the armaments industry was never realized.
